Sprinkler Rules updates issued

The FPA has just published a set of updates to the LPC Rules for Automatic Sprinkler Installations incorporating BS EN 12845. The updates include revisions to the introduction, plus five Technical Bulletins, as well as a new Technical Bulletin on water supply water storage tanks. Customers who subscribe to the Sprinkler Rules update register will automatically receive their copies.

LPC Rules for Automatic Sprinkler Installations incorporating BS EN 12845 are an essential source of reference for those designing, specifying and installing sprinklers. The publication includes the text of the 2003 BS EN, together with a series of Technical Bulletins which explain and amplify the European standard, plus a selection of documents which provide supplementary information.

It is important that the Sprinkler Rules should be kept up-to-date, so if you own a copy but have not subscribed to the update register, please contact us to obtain a registration form. Registration for the update service is free and customers are invoiced with each update. Prices are based on the extent and complexity of each update.

For further information about the Sprinkler Rules or to receive an application form for the update register, contact the FPA on tel: +44 (0)1608 812 500; e-mail: sales@thefpa.co.uk

Fire 2005

The Fire 2005 conference and exhibition will take place on 2-3 November 2005 at Manchester’s G-Mex centre. With more than 70 exhibiting companies in the fields of fire prevention, protection and safety, plus an anticipated 2,500 visitors from both the UK and overseas, the show is a must for the fire professional’s calendar. Visitors to the show include buyers, specifiers and end-users of firefighting, fire prevention and engineering equipment and services, and anyone with an interest in fire safety issues.

A full conference programme is planned, featuring a selection of prominent speakers covering key issues such as London resilience, fire service recruitment and retention, new challenges in command and control, and the environmental impact of emergency response. A series of low-cost workshops will also be on offer, which will focus on topical issues such as equality and diversity, water rescue, procurement, arson, co-responding, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and the fire service radio communications project, Firelink.

New this year will be a Water Safety Village, an Innovations Centre and an urban search and rescue area where manufacturers will showcase their products and equipment in action. There will also be a Gala Dinner on 2 November, during which the prestigious Fire Awards will be presented.

The FPA will be exhibiting at stand 83 and we would be delighted to meet as many of our members as possible – please drop by to visit us. For further information about Fire 2005 and to register online, go to website: www.fire2005.com
