Stratos cuts false alarms

A STRATOS high-sensitivity smoke detection system, from AirSense Technology, has been installed at a waste transfer site, providing effective fire protection and helping to minimise false alarms.

WFP Fire and Security designed the system at the Kingsway Materials Recycling Facility.
It combines aspirating technology and an addressable system comprising three Stratos-HSSD detectors and one Stratos-Micra 25 detector. They are connected via an addressable loop, with combined sounder beacons and manual call points, controlled from a single control panel.

The Stratos units have helped reduce the number of false alarms at the site. Previously, a poorly designed point detector-based system was regularly generating three to five false alarms per day.
