Bristol Uniforms wins ICP contract

BRISTOL UNIFORMS has been announced as the preferred bidder to deliver new personal protective clothing and corporate wear to English fire and rescue services under the Integrated Clothing Project (ICP).

Liz Barron, chair of national procurement agency Firebuy, said: ‘Fire and rescue authorities can now be sure that the protective clothing they issue to firefighters is the best available to maximise their comfort, safety and image. As authorities’ existing clothing contracts come to an end, they will have the opportunity to buy from the Firebuy contract with Bristol Uniforms. Real efficiency savings will be made via the combined purchasing leverage which this contract represents on the whole-life costing for protective clothing and station wear.’

The move comes after the protective clothing ensembles and corporate wear of four bidding consortia were extensively evaluated in a series of trials (see FP&FEJ, November 2006, p.46).
