Fire engineer

As the British Council’s in-house Fire Engineer you will:

• develop and implement strategies and policies that will fulfil our global commitment and duty of care

• use your fire engineering expertise to contribute to our global construction and refurbishment projects

• assess fire risks of our extensive properties and activities

• assist the spread of knowledge throughout the organisation

• travel extensively ensuring compliance with international standards

• play an active part in the development and delivery of our fire safety training programme.

In addition, you will engage and manage consultants, develop and maintain our records and review processes.

You must have a relevant qualification, such as a degree in Fire Engineering, MI Fire E. or long FP course. You will have excellent communications and influencing skills and be flexible and realistic in developing solutions. You may have experience of working for a global organisation in a similar position or working with statutory authorities and project teams in other countries.
