Skills development in the emergency and alarms systems sector

Is your business involved with providing emergency and alarm or security systems?

Do you have a real desire to:

  • be involved in lively debate on current and future skills needs in the sector?
  • inform the planning of appropriate methods of addressing skills shortages?
  • influence career paths and qualifications frameworks that will help the security, emergency and alarm systems business sector to attract, retain and develop its staff, so that employment in security systems becomes a chosen career option rather than a stopgap job, and standards of professionalism and service delivery improve?

If you do, there is an opportunity for you to become part of the Systems Sector Consultation Group, which is inviting representation from 10 to 15 employers who are passionate about improving the industry by raising standards and improving employment opportunities for the workforce across the sector.

The setting up of the Group is part of a Skills For Security initiative, whereby a network of consultation groups is being formed to represent the various sectors that make up the security community across the UK. Skills for Security was launched in 2006 and is the skills and standards setting body for the security business sector. It works with employers and other stakeholders to deliver a range of educational and related services, improve skills, raise professionalism and help to provide a workforce that is highly trained and fit for purpose.
