THE INSTITUTION of Fire Engineers (IFE) launched a new weekly electronic newsletter on 15 August 2007, providing members with the latest fire news from around the world. International Fire News Update is in addition to the Institution’s monthly e-newsletter launched earlier in the year and covers a broad range of topics of relevance to members. The weekly news update will be sent automatically to existing newsletter subscribers. If you would like to be added to the mailing list please e-mail: gail.savage@ife.org.uk.

Mike Bitcon (deceased)
We were all deeply saddened by the death of Mike Bitcon in June 2007 following a long illness. Mike was a loyal supporter of the Institution. A personal tribute by Dr Bob Docherty can be found in the 'Members news' section of the journal website.
