 SOME VALUABLE operational issues were highlighted during a recent training exercise for a large-scale incident, organised by Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service. About 60 firefighters from the region took part in the exercise at a large frozen food storage depot at the Grecontinental compound in Whitchurch Business Park. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus to enter the smoke-filled building to ‘rescue’ three missing workers. The exercise involved crews from across Shropshire, as well as from Chirk in North Wales, as part of an English and Welsh firefighting agreement recently signed by both fire chiefs.
