 THE SCOTTISH Government has announced that Brian Fraser, currently the chief officer of South Wales Fire and Rescue Service, is to head up the new Fire and Rescue Advisory Unit in Scotland. Mr Fraser – previously an advisor to the Welsh Assembly on fire and rescue matters – is due to take up the post in November. In line with similar changes in England, the new unit will advise ministers and officials, while providing support to chief fire officers and challenging them on professional issues where necessary.
