Wireless Rum

THE ISLE of Rum on the northwest coast of Scotland is being protected by a single networked wireless fire detection system from EMS Group.

The radio-based system consists of six networked control panels, four radio transponders and over 300 radio devices, including fire sensors, call-points and sounders, and covers an area over one mile long. It protects all the island’s buildings, including the historic Kinloch Castle.

Cause and effect programming in the control panels ensures safe and phased evacuation and a 24-hour personal paging system alerts users to any fire alarms.
