CHARLIE HENDRY has become the new president of the UK Chief Fire Officers’ Association (CFOA). Mr Hendry, the chief fire officer of Kent, took over the presidential reins from Steve McGuirk at CFOA’s annual general meeting in June.
He has stressed the need for progress in a number of key areas, including governance arrangements for the fire service, national operational guidance, equality and diversity, and training and development.
Mr Hendry is on full-time secondment to the year-long post of president – Kent’s deputy chief fire officer, Bill Feeley, will take on the chief’s role during this period.
