FPA advises Scottish firms

THE FIRE Protection Association is delivering free fire safety workshops at various venues throughout the Lothian and Borders area of Scotland to alert local organisations and businesses to the latest changes in fire safety legislation.

Funded by the Scottish Government, the workshops centre on the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005, which came into force on 1 October 2006 and affects non-domestic premises in Scotland. The workshops include an overview of the new law; principles of shared responsibility; and fire safety risk assessment. Following attendance, it is hoped that individuals will have the confidence and ability to carry out simple fire risk assessments of their premises.
