PhD Research Studentship

Interested in applying for a 3-year PhD research studentship in the area of operations management?

Development of a Risk-Based Fire and Rescue Management System, School of Engineering, Liverpool John Moores University

Applications are invited for a 3-year PhD Research Studentship to undertake research in the area of operations management. The studentship will cover university tuition fees (at EU/UK level) and provide a tax-free bursary of £12,900 per year, rising annually in line with the UK Government (EPSRC) recommended rate.

The successful applicant will work on an ESPRC funded project in collaboration with Mersey Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) and The University of Manchester. The aim is to further develop risk-based fire and rescue management planning to improve both fire and rescue management, and safety. The research will involve development and validation of a risk-based management framework with appropriate support tools. The applicant will join an established team of researchers working within the Liverpool LOgistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) Centre www.ljmu.ac.uk/eng/researchgroups/morg/ based at Liverpool John Moores University.

The studentship is available to candidates with the equivalent of a first class/upper second class degree, or a master degree in relevant disciplines, e.g. engineering, technology, decision science. The appointed student is expected to commence in October 2008.
