£22,122 rising to £27,594 per annum, 37 hours per week

We are looking for a suitably qualified person to join the Technical Fire Safety Department to carry out the above position. You would initially be based in Swindon and will undertake the role of a Community Safety Inspector until sufficiently trained to carry out the role of the Technical Fire Safety Procedure Manager.

In the role as Community Safety Inspector you would contribute to the strategic aims of the Fire Authority by reducing the risk to the community through enforcement of Fire Safety Legislation, development control and provision of fire safety advice. After an extensive period of training and gained experience you would then become part of the department’s central policy team based at Headquarters near Devizes. You will be responsible for developing department procedures, managing investigations, subsequent prosecution cases and co-ordinating the departments training plans.

You will receive a full training programme to fulfil these roles; however knowledge of fire safety legislation, codes of practice and fire risk assessment would be desirable. Candidates who do not have a fire safety enforcement background, but with either a Fire Engineering Degree or HNC or a NEBOSH General Certificate would also be considered. Applicants must also possess a full driving licence and provide a suitable car, for which an allowance is paid under our essential user scheme.
