IFE India visit

THE PRESIDENT of the South West India Branch, Dr PK John FIFireE, visited the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) head office in Moreton in Marsh on 1 August. In a visit hosted by the Institution’s vice-chairman, Peter Holland, Dr John thanked IFE staff for their support. He also explained that it is difficult for fire engineers in India to afford IFE membership due to their relatively low salaries, compared to those in the western hemisphere. Dr John’s contribution to India’s fire service is well-recognised: he is currently director of fire and emergency services in Goa, and has been highly influential in developing fire safety and fire training in the country.
