The company’s Fire-Cryer range was able to meet the acoustically demanding environment of the Cathedral, since it gives good intelligibility and relatively few sounders were needed.
The success of the project is largely attributed to the use of the Maxi Fire-Cryer (an industrial sounder), which delivers an output of 116dBA. Six Maxi units were installed in the north and south transcepts, and six standard Fire-Cryers fitted in various offices, the shop and a storage area. The sounders are capable of broad-casting seven messages and include multilingual options.
