Fire Safety Adviser (Ref: 604748)

Part-time: 16 Hours/3 days per week

Salary Range: £32,709 to £40,560 (£14,144 to £17,539 pro-rata)

Location: Holyrood, Edinburgh

Working within the Facilities Management (FM) Office in our iconic building, we require a part-time Fire Safety Advisor to ensure we provide a safe and secure environment for MSPs and their staff, parliamentary staff, visitors and the public.

Providing a professional fire safety advisory service to the Parliament, you will be responsible for carrying out statutory Fire Risk Assessments and reviewing fire evacuation, fire alarm tactical management and fire incident review procedures.  In addition you will have responsibility for delivering fire safety training, ensuring this is delivered to a high standard.

You will be a graduate member of Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) (or equivalent). You will also have successfully attended “long fire prevention course/related modules” at the Fire Service College or similar and be an experienced Fire Risk Assessor. Ideally, you will have a recognised health & safety management qualification, for example the NEBOSH National Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health and be able to demonstrate proven relevant experience.

With excellent organisational skills, you will have the ability to manage fire safety projects and fire safety related contracts.  You will have excellent training skills with the ability to develop, design and deliver relevant training for all levels within the organisation.  With a full understanding of current fire safety legislation, you will have the ability to promote the values of good fire safety awareness and culture.
