Next Grenfell hearing date confirmed
THE INQUIRY, led by Sir Martin Moore-Bick, will host another procedural hearing ‘towards the end’ of February.
The first two days of inquiry hearings took place at the Holborn Bars in central London, and dealt with ‘case management issues’ including proposed timetables, matters concerning witnesses and the disclosure of evidence’. Sir Martin’s inquiry is also looking to produce an ‘initial report’ that would explain the ‘immediate cause and spread’ of the fire, as well as an ‘assessment of the evacuation process’.
Previously, he appointed three assessors to look at housing, local government and technical matters, and resisted calls to overhaul the panel. The latest development has seen the inquiry website state that it now expects the next hearing to ‘include a discussion of the timetable’ for the inquiry, though work will ‘continue in the meantime, including analysis of the written documents received so far’.
